Two of Yahoo!'s top shareholders are reportedly urging AOL CEO Tim Armstrong to consider a merger between the two companies. The shareholders are so unhappy with Yahoo! chief Marissa Mayer that they want Armstrong to lead the combined company, should a merger occur, according to Reuters. Armstrong has reportedly been receptive to the shareholders and acknowledged potential benefits of such a deal, but has downplayed the possibility of it occurring. Meanwhile, two top AOL investors are said to have met with Armstrong in recent weeks to discuss a deal with Yahoo! and came away with the impression that a combination could yield as much as $1.5 billion in cost savings.
