WPX Energy, Barrick Gold Set to Shine Says GoodHaven Manager

WPX Energy shares are oversold considering its sizable natural gas assets and terrific new CEO, said Keith Trauner, Portfolio Manager for the Goodhaven Fund. Trauner added that WPX has sold non-core assets in South America to shore up its balance sheet. He is bullish on Walter Investment as well, saying the mortgage servicing company operates in an arena with high barriers to entry due to post-crisis regulation. Finally, Trauner is positive on Barrick Gold because the relatively new chairman is aggressively remaking the miner, which is highly leveraged to gold and will see profits soar with a modest uptick in the price of the yellow metal.
