Hollywood talent agency William Morris Endeavor Entertainment and its backer, private equity firm Silver Lake Partners, is said to be near a deal to buy sports and media agency IMG Worldwide for about $2.3 billion. The acquisition would create a mega-agency helmed by co-chief executives Patrick Whitesell and Ari Emanuel, who famously inspired the character Ari Gold, played by Jeremy Piven on HBO's 'Entourage.' It would also give William Morris Endeavor a sports business for the first time and a foothold in media and fashion.
