General Motors  (GM) - Get Report  will be distributing its electric vehicle -- the Chevy Bolt EV -- in all 50 states by this summer. But GM hopes to ramp up sales of its battery-powered car just as President Trump's administration prepares to relax environmental regulations.

The Bolt EV has a range of 238 miles on a single charge. It is currently available mainly in California markets, where demand is high.  The vehicle is priced at just under $30,000 after a $7,500 federal tax credit.

Despite changes in Washington, the Bolt EV could be the first electric vehicle to tempt a substantial number of buyers.
