Brooklyn and Japan are two very different places but a new partnership between Japanese beer giant Kirin and Brooklyn Brewery is bringing the two together. While there's been a shift in favor of wine in whiskey in Japan the two companies hope that the popularity of craft lagers in the U.S. will take hold there. Under a new joint venture, Brooklyn Brewery will produce both established brands and develop new craft beers tailored to the Japanese market. And, closely held Brooklyn Brewery will issue new shares to Kirin and take a 40 percent stake in the joint deal. Financial terms of the unique tie up were not available. TheStreet's Jeanne Yurman reports from Wall Street.
