There's new census data on the pay gap between men and women, and the biggest disparity is in Louisiana where women are paid only about two-thirds of what men are paid. Nationally, men's pay was in the top half of states, but women's pay ranked 44th among the states and Washington, D.C. Why the discrepancy? Well, one analyst points to high gender segregation in Louisiana jobs. She notes that few women work in the high-paying oil and gas industry. As for the smallest gap in pay, that honor goes to The District of Columbia which had both the highest average pay and the smallest gender gap: women's pay averages 91 percent of men's pay. TheStreet's Ruben Ramirez reports from New York.
