Antony Blinken, President-elect Joe Biden's pick for secretary of state is among the nominees facing Senate confirmation hearings Tuesday.
Blinken, 58, who served as a senior foreign policy adviser for the 2020 Biden campaign, has been a loyal follower of Biden.
He worked for Joe Biden’s 2008 presidential campaign. He also served as Democratic staff director for the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee from 2002 to 2008, which was chaired by Biden.
Looking at Blinken's experience, he worked as a deputy secretary of state from 2015 to 2017 and deputy national security adviser from 2013 to 2015 in the Obama administration.
A graduate of Harvard College and Columbia Law School, Blinken also co-founded a political strategy firm, WestExec Advisors, after the end of Obama administration. The firm says he is "currently on a leave of absence from WestExec."
