Kevin Munoz, White House assistant press secretary, said that the announcement applies to both international air travel and land travel.

"This policy is guided by public health, stringent, and consistent," Munoz tweeted.

On September 20, the White House said it was planning to lift air travel bans from 33 countries in early November.

The Trump administration imposed travel bans from many countries at the onset of the pandemic in 2020. The Biden administration maintained the ban upon the transfer of power.
