Here's what's ahead for Friday January 22, a wave of companies will tell us how they did in the latest quarter, but the ones to look out for are General Electric (GE), Synchrony Financial (SYF), SunTrust Banks (STI), and Sotheby's (BID) all report results before the market opens. When SunTrust Banks releases its fourth quarter earnings, analysts are calling for $0.87 a share on revenue of a little over $2 billion. The bottom line is projected to fall slightly from last year's results but the top line is expected to remain unchanged. Benjamin Stoto, director of research for CNBC's ‘Mad Money’ said, 'We're going to be watching two metrics that they've been improving upon every quarter throughout 2015. The first is net interest margin, which has been steadily climbing, we want to see that as close to 3 percent as possible. The second is their efficiency ratio which is their expenses over their revenues and we want to see that as low as possibly, ideally close to 60 percent.' On the economic calendar, traders will get data on the PMI manufacturing index flash followed by existing home sales. TheStreet's U-Jin Lee reports from Wall Street.
