What to Watch Wednesday: Morgan Stanley Earnings, Fed Speakers
On Wednesday, October 19, investors will get quarterly results from Morgan Stanley (MS) - Get Report and remarks from a number of Federal Reserve officials. Before the markets open, analysts expect Morgan Stanley to post third quarter earnings of $0.63 a share on sales of $8.17 billion. During the same quarter a year ago, the bank reported earnings of $0.34 a share on sales of $7.33 billion. Fixed income revenue will be watched closely, something that helped propel rivals Goldman Sachs (GS) - Get Report and JPMorgan Chase (JPM) - Get Report . After the markets close, American Express (AXP) - Get Report , eBay (EBAY) - Get Report and Mattel (MAT) - Get Report release quarterly financial results. On the economic calendar, at 8:30 a.m. EDT, housing starts for September are released; the EIA Petroleum Status report is out at 10:30 a.m., while the Fed's Beige Book is released at 2 p.m. As for Fed speakers, John Williams, Rob Kaplan and William Dudley are speaking at various events.
