For Tuesday, August 18, TheStreet highlights earnings from two major retailers -- Walmart (WMT) and Home Depot (HD). This week is all about consumer spending and big retailers. Starting off with the one of the world's largest retailers, Walmart is set to release its latest numbers before the markets open Tuesday. For its fiscal 2016 second quarter, analysts expect the retailer to report earnings of $1.12 a share and revenue of nearly $120 billion. Also set to report Tuesday before the opening bell are Dick's Sporting Goods (DKS), La-Z-Boy (LZB) and TJX Companies (TJX). On the economic front, at 8:30 a.m. eastern, July housing starts will report how many permits for new construction were submitted. Economists believe housing starts will be up 0.5 percent to a little over 1 million, but that's still down 8.4 percent from July of 2014. TheStreet's Valerie Young reports from New York.
