What to Watch Tuesday: Goldman Sachs Earnings, June Housing Starts
On Tuesday, July 19, investors will focus on the U.S. banking sector. Goldman Sachs (GS) - Get Report releases second quarter earnings before the markets open. Analysts expect the bank to report profit of $3.00 a share on sales of $7.58 billion. During the same quarter a year ago, the company reported earnings of $1.98 a share on sales of $9.07 billion. Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) - Get Report also reports financial results before the markets open. United Continental Holdings (UAL) - Get Report releases earnings after the markets close. On the economic calendar, June housing starts are unveiled at 8:30am Eastern. Economists expect housing starts to rise 0.5 percent during the month to an annualized 1.170 million starts.
