What to Watch Tuesday: Can Chipotle Satisfy Investors' Cravings?
For Tuesday October 20, TheStreet takes note of how companies are doing in the latest quarter given macroeconomic challenges. Earnings season is heating up and we expect to get reports in the morning from Verizon Communications (VZ), United Technologies (UTX) and Lockheed Martin (LMT). Then after the closing bell, we get financial data from Yahoo! (YHOO), VMware (VMW) and Chipotle Mexican Grill (CMG). When the Mexican food chain reports its third quarter fiscal 2015 earnings results, analysts are projecting the company to earn $4.63 a share on over $1 billion in revenue. The company is expected to do better in this year's quarter compared to last year's. Turning to the U.S. economic calendar, there are several reports to look out for. We get housing starts at 8:30 a.m. Eastern. The number is expected to increase 2% in September to a 1.149 million annual rate. Shortly after, we get the Redbook, and then New York Fed president William Dudley is set to speak at 9. Following his speech, Fed chair Janet Yellen will give a speech in Washington.
