Earnings and housing data will be scrutinized on Tuesday, August 30. Abercrombie & Fitch (ANF) reports quarterly results before the markets open. Analysts expect the retailer to report a loss of $0.20 a share on sales of $782.1 million. During the same quarter a year ago, Abercrombie reported a profit of $0.12 a share with sales of $817.8 million. Investors will be looking for updates on the company's recent move to appeal to an older '20-something' audience. Retailer DSW Inc. (DSW) and security company Palo Alto Networks (PANW) also report earnings on Tuesday. On the economic calendar, the S&P Case-Shiller Home Price Index for June is released at 9 a.m. Eastern, followed by the August consumer confidence index from the Conference Board at 10 a.m. TheStreet's Scott Gamm reports from Wall Street.
