What to Watch Thursday: Nordstrom's Quarterly Earnings, July Retail Sales

For Thursday August 12, TheStreet highlights a few companies set to release their latest quarterly results as earnings season tapers off. Keep an eye out for some major department stores coming out with their numbers. Before the opening well, Kohl's (KSS), Coty (COTY), and Advance Auto Parts (AAP) will show us how they did this recent quarter. Then, after the market close, Applied Materials (AMAT) and Nordstrom (JWN) will also report. Additionally, the U.S. economic calendar highlights several key events. Retail sales for the month of July and jobless claims report will be coming out at 8:30AM eastern followed by the business inventories report at 10. For the month of July, business inventories, which are the dollar amount of inventories held by manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers, is forecast to rise 0.3%.
