What to Watch Thursday: J.M. Smucker Earnings and Jobless Claims

On Thursday, June 9, investors will be keeping a close eye on earnings from The J.M. Smucker Company (SJM) - Get Report , along with weekly jobless claims. JM Smucker reports quarterly results before the markets open. The company is expected to post profit of $1.20 a share on sales of roughly $1.7 billion. During the same quarter a year ago, profit stood at $0.98 a share with sales of $1.45 billion. Smuckers' brands include Folgers coffee and Pillsbury, among others. The stock is up 7.5 percent since the start of the year. After the closing bell, H&R Block (HRB) - Get Report reports earnings. On the economic front, weekly jobless claims will be released at 8:30am Eastern for the week of June 4th. TheStreet's Scott Gamm reports from Wall Street.
