What to Watch Thursday: Consumer Price Index, Oracle Earnings

On Thursday, June 16, investors await earnings from Oracle (ORCL) - Get Report along with some key inflation data. Analysts expect Oracle to report earnings of $0.82 a share on sales of roughly $10.5 billion. During the same quarter a year ago, Oracle reported earnings of $0.78 a share with revenue of $10.7 billion. Investors will be looking for any commentary on upcoming M&A activity - especially amid Microsoft's (MSFT) - Get Report purchase of LinkedIn LNKD, a deal announced earlier this week. Also on Thursday, supermarket giant Kroger (KR) - Get Report and Rite Aid (RAD) - Get Report release quarterly results before the markets open. Aside from earnings, it's a data deluge on the economic calendar - starting at 8:30am Eastern with weekly jobless claims, the May consumer price index, which is expected to rise 0.3 percent month-over-month, and the Philadelphia Fed Business Outlook Survey.
