On Thursday, October 9th it's a busy day on the earnings front, starting with discount store chain operator, Family Dollar. The company is set to post its fourth quarter results, with investors looking for comments regarding Dollar Tree's buyout offer and why it rejected Dollar General's proposal. Along with Family Dollar, PepsiCo is also scheduled to report its third quarter earnings before market open. The company behind global brands like Pepsi, Gatorade, Lay's and Quaker Oats is hoping to surpass Wall Street estimates. Other earnings to watch include Joe's Jeans and Barracuda Networks which are both expected to report after market close. On the U.S. economic calendar we'll get numbers from the weekly jobless claims and wholesale inventories.
