What to Watch on Wall Street for the Week of Oct. 20, 2014

In the week ahead, we have some heavy hitters coming up in the midst of earnings season. On Monday, Oct. 20, Apple is set to report its fiscal fourth quarter results. Analysts expect the tech giant to top estimates fueled by strong sales after selling more than 10 million iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus products in its record debut weekend. On Tuesday, Yahoo! will release its earnings, followed by AT&T on Wednesday, Amazon.com on Thursday, and Ford Motor Company on Friday. We note some of the key economic data on the weekly calendar starting with Tuesday's existing home sales numbers. On Wednesday we get the consumer price index, followed by weekly jobless claims numbers on Thursday. And finally on Friday, new home sales numbers will be out to wrap up the week.
