What to Watch on Wall Street for Monday, October 6, 2014

On Monday, Oct. 6 we look at notable earnings reports in the retail industry to kick off the week. The Container Store reports its fiscal second quarter results after the closing bell. The retailer is hoping to regain investor confidence after a decline in sales in the previous quarter. On the U.S. economic calendar we watch for two key indicators, Gallup's U.S. consumer spending figures and the TD Ameritrade investor movement index. The consumer spending measure is a real-time indicator of Americans' discretionary spending. The IMX will give us insight into whether investors are growing more bullish or bearish on equities.
