What to Watch Friday: How Will Kroger Perform in Its Second Quarter?
For Friday September 11, TheStreet pays close attention to one major retailer set to report its latest quarterly earnings. Before the trading session kicks off, we get financial results from Kroger (KR). For the second quarter of fiscal 2015, analysts are expecting the retail food and drug stores operator to report earnings of $0.39 a share on revenue of $25.5 billion. There are also key economic reports coming out Friday. The producer price index is due out at 8:30 a.m. Eastern. This is a monthly report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics that shows trends within the wholesale markets, manufacturing industries and commodities markets. For August, economists are expecting a 0.2% drop compared to a 0.2% increase in July. Then at 10 a.m., the consumer sentiment index comes out, which is directly related to the strength of consumer spending. These numbers will also reflect consumer attitudes. Finally, the treasury budget comes out at 2 p.m. TheStreet's U-Jin Lee reports from New York.
