What to Watch Friday: Can BlackBerry Make a Comeback With Earnings?

For Friday September 24, TheStreet is looking out for several things including notable earnings and key economic data. The day kicks off with BlackBerry (BBRY) and athletic apparel company Finish Line (FINL) both reporting its latest quarterly financial results before the market open. For the second quarter of fiscal 2016, analysts are predicting BlackBerry to report a loss of $0.09 a share on revenue of $610.99 million. Year-over-year analysts are expecting the smartphone maker's earnings and revenue to decline. Some things investors will be looking out for are its software sales and hardware. On the economic calendar, the gross domestic product numbers are expected to be released at 8:30 a.m. Eastern. Economists forecast GDP to hold steady at a plus 3.7% and the GDP price index at plus 2.1%, according to Bloomberg. GDP is a measurement of economic activity. Then at 10, the consumer sentiment is set to come out. The consensus sentiment reading is forecast to be 87.1. TheStreet's U-Jin Lee reports from New York.
