Are you ready for the first earnings season of 2019?

"The guidance is what started to be cautious," Kenny Polcari, Managing Principal at Butcher Joseph Asset Management, told TheStreet

In Polcari's newsletter on Thursday, Jan. 3, he wrote, "we are already expecting an earnings slowdown in 2019.....so now we must ask - will the slowdown be more than what the market is already pricing in? Point of reference....earnings growth in 2018 was in the 20% - 25% range y/y - and estimates for 2019 were already expected to be in the 10% range y/yr but have now been trimmed to the 8% range - any more of these punches out of left field and we can expect the brain trusts to cut estimates."

Still a little lost about earnings season? Real Money's Stephen 'Sarge' Guilfoyle joined TheStreet's Martin Baccardax and Katherine Ross to discuss how he plans on playing earnings season. You can listen to the full podcast below.
