Wall Street Watches Cleveland as Republican Convention Gets Underway

Thousands of law enforcement officers were ordered to Ohio for the Republican National Convention even before the fatal shootings of police officers in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Today is 'Make America Safe Again' day at the convention. Final bids for Yahoo!'s (YHOO)  core internet business, including search, email, advertising and media are due today. This could be Yahoo's final earnings report, at least in its current form. Yahoo is expected to say something about the bids as well as the future of CEO Marissa Mayer during an earnings call after the closing bell today. Exxon Mobil (XOM) - Get Report  has launched a bidding war for Interoil. It and rival Total are interested in liquified natural gasfields in Papua New Guinea. The United States House and Senate begin recess today until September 6th. The National Home builders survey is released. SpaceX successfully launched a rocket from Cape Canaveral this morning.
