Wall Street Braces for Fed Meeting, Apple Shares Plunge After Miss
It's Fed Day. The Federal Reserve wraps up its meeting today and general consensus is that the Central Bank is in no mood to raise interest rates in a still fragile global economy. The Governors may make a statement, however, about its intentions during the June meeting. Comcast (CMCSA) - Get Report is reportedly considering buying Dreamworks Animation (DWA) in a deal worth $3 billion. The Wall Street Journal says if a deal goes through Comcast would combine the company with its own animation unit, Illumination Entertainment. Dreamworks is the studio behind Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, and the Madasgascar Franchises. Apple (AAPL) - Get Report shares are plunging and the company has lost $46 billion in market capitalization. The company saw slowing sales of the iPhone, Mac and iPad. The Energy Information Administration will release the weekly petroleum report. The National Association of Realtors released data on pending home sales. Mortgage Applications are due.
