1. A recent statement from Donald Trump that the U.S. wants peace followed by U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley's message to North Korea on Wednesday that, "We're not trying to pick a fight" appeared to help take the edge off of recent worries over brewing tensions between Pyongyang and Washington.

2. Global oil prices were rising Thursday, following the biggest single-day decline in more than month, after Saudi Arabia's energy minister said OPEC members could potentially agree to extend their production cuts beyond the agreed to June deadline.

3. Qualcomm (QCOM) - Get QUALCOMM Incorporated Report  shares jumped 2.8% in premarket trading on Thursday after the chipmaker posted fiscal second-quarter earnings of $1.34 a share, topping analysts' expectations of $1.19.

4. Warren Buffett, Wells Fargo's (WFC) - Get Wells Fargo & Company Report  largest investor, likely already has voted his shares to support the bank's recommendations at its annual shareholder meeting next week, including reinstating most of the bank's board.

5. eBay (EBAY) - Get eBay Inc. Report  reported first-quarter earnings of 49 cents a share, a penny above estimates.
