Volkswagen America CEO on the Emissions Scandal and Self-Driving Cars
The fallout from Volkswagen's (VLKAY) 2015 emissions scandal continues with media reports saying executive Wolfgang Hatz was arrested in Germany in recent days.
In an interview with TheStreet, Volkswagen Group of America's CEO Hinrich Woebcken couldn't comment on the reports but said the company is "cooperating with all agencies and all authorities."
The company just announced it is now offering a 6 year, 72,000 mile warranty on most 2018 models.
As for self-driving cars, Woebcken said the industry has been moving towards three streams that are coming together: electric cars, autonomous driving and digitization and connectivity to infrastructure and other cars.
VW is reportedly investing some 70 billion euros in electric vehicles over the next several years.
