Verizon is recapturing the title of the fastest wireless service in the U.S., an honor it lost to AT&T at the beginning of 2013, according to the latest study by RootMetrics, Verizon solved the network congestion problems by expanding capacity. Particularly, it was focusing on the Advanced Wireless Services, or AWS, airwaves coverage in big cities. RootMetrics said on Tuesday that Verizon ranks number one in call and data services and overall quality. It falls to second behind AT&T in text messaging. Both carriers offer customers good mobile experience, but Verizon edges out AT&T by a tiny bit. RootMetrics' President Bill Moore said, "Verizon has done well with the quick deployment of their AWS network. In a significant reversal from our last study, Verizon pulled away from AT&T in our Network Speed Index during the first half of 2014." Verizon and AT&T have been long-time rivals and always try to take subscribers away from each other. RootMetrics warns that users should not decide on the carrier based on one study because things can change quickly and the difference between the two is small. Both carriers are way ahead of the third and fourth place finishers, Sprint and T-Mobile.
