U.S. Stocks Open Lower as Oil Prices Rebound After Days of Selling
U.S. markets opened slightly lower Wednesday as oil prices post small gains after days of heavy selling. Yahoo (YHOO) is making some big changes to its business. It is abandoning its plan to spinoff Alibaba (BABA) into a separate company. Instead, Yahoo will weigh a spinoff of its core business, which includes its advertising, search technology, Yahoo sports, and the Tumblr blogging platform. The deal would require shareholder approval and may take as long as a year, according to Yahoo. The two companies, once spunoff, would each be publicly traded. Lululemon (LULU) also warned that it will miss profit expectations on lower margins. The CEO says store openings and other business adjustments are helping get the fitness apparel maker on the right track.
