The Mall at University Town Center in Sarasota, Florida has just opened its doors. It is one of only two new malls of this type to open in the U.S. since 2012 and only the third since the recession. William Taubman, COO of Taubman Centers, the mall's developer, explains why this was the right time to open this mall in a still-recovering economy. He also weighs in on the growing fear of crowded public places like malls due to shootings and the Ebola scare. Taubman says his company meets with the Department of Homeland Security regularly and has discussed the threat of Ebola, how to prepare for it and deal with it should it spread. Taubman also looks ahead to the holiday season. With a number of factors combined, he believes it will be a much better holiday shopping season than last year.
