U.S. Regulators Demand Global Recall of Defective Airbag Vehicles
U.S. regulators are demanding that the auto industry recall more vehicles equipped with faulty Takata airbags.
U.S. regulators are demanding that the auto industry recall more vehicles equipped with faulty Takata airbags. The recall will affect millions of additional cars made by Ford, Honda, Chrysler and BMW. Japanese manufacturer Takata has been under investigation after at least 5 deaths worldwide were linked to the exploding safety devices. Faulty airbags have shot metal shrapnel into passengers and drivers causing both death and injury. Up until now about 8 million cars containing the airbags have been recalled in the U.S. and another 4 millions from abroad. Takata has said that prolonged exposure to moisture in high humidity areas can cause the problem.
