UPS (UPS) - Get Report said on Tuesday that it had successfully tested a drone delivery system. The drone lifts off from the top of a UPS truck. It drops the package off at the front door and returns to the truck. The drones could be most helpful with rural deliveries, which are often more expensive due to time and vehicle expenses. A reduction of one mile per driver per day can save the company $50 million a year. UPS already uses drones to make medical deliveries in Rwanda. CFO Richard Peretz noted that government policy regarding drones is still being developed and they'll have to wait and see what the regulation will be.
