Universal Music Group Reportedly Banning Exclusive Music Streaming Deals

Universal Music Group reportedly is banning artists from signing exclusive distribution deals with music streaming services, making it the first major label to do so.  According to media reports that cited a music industry newsletter, the decision came just days after Frank Ocean's 'Blonde' was released on Apple's iTunes. Blonde is one of the biggest releases so far this year. This directive would affect dozens of performers under the Universal umbrella, including names like Kendrick Lamar and Taylor Swift. Universal is the world's largest music company.
