The U.S. gun lobby has backed calls for regulations on "bump stock" devices.
The National Rifle Association (NRA), which normally opposes any moves towards stricter gun laws, said "bump stocks" should "be subject to additional regulations".
The Las Vegas shooter reportedly used "bump stocks" to alter his semi-automatic rifles, according to law enforcement officials. The alterations apparently allowed the gunman to fire hundreds of rounds per minute with that being seen as a major factor in the high casualty count.
"Bump stocks" allow semi-automatic rifles to operate in a similar manner to fully automatic weapon.
