Two Cable TV Giants Are Reportedly in Talks to Undergo a Merger
A deal to bring together cable giants Discovery Communications (DISCA) - Get Report and Scripps Networks (SSP) - Get Report would shake up the world of cable TV. The Wall Street Journal says Discovery Communications is worth about $15 billion, according to S&P Global Market Intelligence. Scripps has an $8.8 billion market valuation. Discovery and Scripps are both trying to navigate the world of digital media. Discovery owns its namesake Discovery Channel, Animal Planet and TLC, while Scripps has a portfolio that includes HGTV, Cooking Channel, and Food Network. Tech stocks are on track to set another record high. The NASDAQ is on its longest winning streak in 2 years. Yesterday, it hit an all time high as did Netflix (NFLX) - Get Report , Amazon (AMZN) - Get Report , and Facebook (FB) - Get Report . Google Glass isn't dead, the company has redeveloped the technology for the Enterprise sector and specifically blue collar workers. Parent company Alphabet (GOOGL) - Get Report says the new version of Glass will guide workers through tasks so they don't have to continually reference instruction manuals.
