President-elect Donald Trump has been a vocal critic of a plan to build a wind farm near his golf course in Scotland. He has been fighting against the project for years and has fired off dozens off tweets about it.

During a transition meeting with Brexit proponent and UKIP leader Nigel Farage, Trump reportedly raised the issue.

Trump was asked about the issue during an interview with The New York Times. He defended his environmental record, but claimed his opposition to the windmills has to do with the birds killed by the propellers, the steel used to manufacture them, and the subsidies often required to build them.
