President Donald Trump's policies should help drive merger and acquisition activity in 2017, according to one expert.

"I always say, at the highest level, Donald Trump is a dealmaker. So I think as he approaches everything in his administration, he's taking sort of an eye towards doing deals," said Paul Aversano, global practice leader of the transaction advisory group at Alvarez & Marsal.
