Tooth Fairy Tightens Her Purse Strings, Leaves Less for Kids Under the Pillow

Bad news for America's kids. The latest reports suggest that the tooth fairy is tightening her purse strings for the third consecutive year. Payouts per tooth have dropped to $3.19, slumping 24 percent from 2014. The tooth fairy appears to be getting increasingly frugal with her young customers. The average American child can now expect royalties of only $64 for their entire under the pillow collection, down from $74 two years ago. The results of Visa's (V) sixth Annual tooth fairy survey highlight some other revealing trends. Dads are the more generous tooth fairies on average for the second year running, paying out $3.63 per tooth, while Mom's by contrast averaged $2.87 per tooth. Tooth prices also varied by location.
