The new Braun Series 9 shaver claims to be the "best shaver in the world" and the "epitome of premium craftsmanship." The company says it took 60 engineers to develop the electric razor.

The new razor supposedly delivers 40,000 cross-cutting actions every minute. According to maker Procter & Gamble (PG) - Get Report , the Series 9 has been "torture-tested" on three-day-old beards.

The electric shaver category could use a dose of cool. Last year alone, said Nielsen, sales of electric shavers for men dived 8.7% to $147 million. By comparison, sales of men's disposable razors dropped 5.9% last year to $1.2 billion, capping an end to over three years of solid growth.
