TheStreet’s Real Money team discusses the ‘Stressed Out’ index of 20 troubled companies. The index is a broad list of companies in several sectors, all of which have too much non-investment grade rated debt. ‘The question with these companies is their ability to be able to service that debt,’ said Carleton English, an analyst with TheStreet’s Premium Services. ‘Take a lot at Sprint (S), it’s in a high-yield mess,’ said James Passeri, an analyst with TheStreet’s Premium Service. The index also includes consumer names like Avon (AVP), as well as companies in the energy, steel and even technology businesses. The ‘Stressed Out’ index will actively add newcomers and remove existing companies as management successfully executes turnarounds.
