The Ultra Wealthy Embrace #GivingTuesday as Philanthropy on the Upswing
The overwhelming majority of ultra wealthy individuals are giving to charity and will continue to do so, according to a U.S. Trust survey.
For the ultra wealthy, generosity doesn't just occur on #GivingTuesday. Ninety-one percent of high net worth households are giving to charity, according to the U.S. Trust Study of High Net Worth Philanthropy. That compares to about 59% of the general population that donates to charity, according to the study. U.S Trust also found that 88% of wealthy Americans plan to give the same amounts or more to charity over the next three years. Claire Costello, national philanthropic practice executive for U.S. Trust, discussed the survey results with TheStreet's Rhonda Schaffler in New York.
