Tesla Says It Plans to Build 500,000 Electric Cars by 2018

Tesla (TSLA) - Get Report said it plans to manufacture 500,000 cars by 2018, that's two years ahead of what it had previously said. For 2016, the electric car maker said it plans to produce between 80,000 and 90,000 vehicles. Tesla posted a first quarter loss of $0.57 a share on revenue of $1.6 billion. Analysts were looking for a loss of $0.58 a share on sales of $1.6 billion. In the same period last year, Tesla lost $0.36 a share on sales of $1.1 billion in its first quarter.
