Tesla has been granted at least 15 more days to sell its electric cars directly to the New Jersey public. The state, which previously enforced a ban starting April 1, has allowed an extension which will give Tesla more time to negotiate with dealership organizations. But can it continue selling directly indefinitely? A Senate proposal would allow sales of "zero-emission vehicles" until they make up 4% of total car sales, though the legislation won't come to pass until 2018 at the earliest.
