In retail, J.C. Penney (JCP) - Get Report cut 140 stores and 5,500 jobs in February. L.L. Bean plans to trim 10% of its workforce. Home Depot plans to add 80,000 over the spring & summer.
In media, Time Inc. (TIME) laid off thousands of jobs over the last decade. Disney's (DIS) - Get ReportESPN announced a round of layoffs following a drop in subscription revenue.
The energy sector seems to be doing well. Oil and gas companies laid off nearly 3,300 workers in February. Hiring seems to be picking up under the Trump administration.
In tech, Amazon (AMZN) - Get Report announced plans to hire 100,000 workers. However, IBM (IBM) - Get Report and Twitter (TWTR) - Get Report are in the process of laying off employees.
