Summer Box Office Heats Up With Tarzan and a Friendly Giant
From a remake of a classic to a children's film and a presidential election thriller, the July 4th weekend box office is likely to have something for everyone. It has been years since the man once known as Tarzan left the jungles of Africa, but now he has been invited back to the Congo. The Legend of Tarzan stars Alexander Skarsgard as Tarzan and Samuel L. Jackson as George Washington Williams. For kids, The BFG is a Big Friendly Giant and nothing like the other inhabitants of Giant Country. When Sophie arrives in Giant Country, she is initially frightened of the mysterious giant who has brought her to his cave, but soon comes to realize that the BFG is actually quite gentle and charming. The BFG stars Ruby Barnhill as Sophie and Mark Rylance as the Big Friendly Giant. For those looking for a political thriller, The Purge Election Year may be the film to see. It's been two years since Leo Barnes stopped himself from an act of revenge on Purge Night. Now, Barnes is the head of security for Senator Charlie Roan. They must stay alive until dawn. The Purge Election Year stars Frank Grillo as Sergeant and Elizabeth Mitchell as Charlene Roan. Other films out this weekend include: Equals, Marauders and Carnage Park.
