Struggling Automaker Volkswagen Introduces New Atlas SUV for the American Market
Volkswagen launched two new vehicles at the L.A. Auto Show, including an SUV called Atlas that is designed for the American market.
Volkswagen (VLKAY) is trying to move beyond its emission scandal, hoping to win over American consumers with a brand new SUV. VW revealed the American-made Atlas at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The vehicle will be built in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and will be competitively priced when it's available in showrooms next year, according to Jurgen Stackmann, a member of the Board of Management for VW Passenger Cars. VW also introduced its 2017 e-Golf electric vehicle, which has a range of 124 miles. Stackmann indicated the company is eager to put the scandal behind it, saying VW is happy to have reached a settlement with U.S. car owners.
