Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi may have risen to fame through her alcohol-fueled antics on MTV’s Jersey Shore, but she has since turned her life around to become a media and retail mogul. She explains her transformation in her new book Strong is the New Sexy. 'It’s basically a whole book about how I changed myself for the better,' said Polizzi. 'Fitness, inspiration, motivation, all that good stuff. It’s in the book.' Jersey Shore was the highest rated show in MTV history. Polizzi followed that vehicle up with the spin-off Snooki & JWoww. Strong is the New Sexy is the author’s fifth book, which include A Shore Thing, Confessions of a Guidette and Gorilla Beach. She also has a podcast called Naturally Nicole and a shopping Web site TheSnookiShop. As her fans are well aware, Polizzi is a mother of two small children now - Lorenzo and Giovanna - so her time is at a premium. Due to the dual pressures of motherhood and stardom, she cannot lend her name or celebrity to all the products that come her way. To winnow down all her business opportunities, she only chooses projects of products that coincide with her passions. 'I’ve gotten a couple offers where I thought it was great money, but it was pointless for me to do,' said Polizzi. 'I need to be into the stuff I’m promoting.' Polizzi named her recent clothing line 'Lovanna' after her kids instead of using her own well recognized nickname in order to appeal to the mothers in her growing fan base. She also needed to shed the 'Snooki' moniker because some retailers react negatively toward it. 'It’s hard, especially with the clothing line because when people think of Snooki they think of Jersey Shore, but that was six years ago and that’s not who I am anymore,' said Polizzi.
