Stocks Take a Beating Friday as Bond Yields Spike, Fed Action Spooks Investors

All three benchmark indexes declined in a big way Friday. Here's what you need to know.

The stock market was tanking on the afternoon of Friday, Feb. 2, as bond yields spiked, investors anticipated Fed rate hikes and earnings season hit a rough patch.

In late-session trading, the Dow Jones Industrial Average plummeted nearly 570 points, or 2.17%. The S&P 500 fell 49 points, or 1.71%, and the Nasdaq slid 102 points, or 1.39%.
