Stocks Reach Record Highs as Oil Gains Steam; Twitter App Coming to Apple TV?
U.S. stocks moved higher on Monday with the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq reaching record highs. Oil prices jumped over 1 percent with West Texas Intermediate crossing $45 a barrel on reports Russia and Saudi Arabia are discussing a possible production freeze. 'I think oil price stability is important for the stock market,' said Darrell Cronk, President of Wells Fargo Investment Institute. Twitter's (TWTR) - Get Report stock was higher on a New York Times report saying the social networking platform is in talks with Apple (AAPL) - Get Report for an app on Apple TV. Twitter has a deal with the National Football League to stream a select number of football games. The app would enable Apple TV users to seamlessly watch those games. Volkswagen (VLKAY) shares were up after German authorities green lighted remedies for 460,000 vehicles impacted by faulty diesel engine software. Some 11 million vehicles are littered with the glitch. TheStreet's Scott Gamm reports from Wall Street.
