Tom Fanning, President, CEO and Chairman of Southern Company (SO) spoke about the economy, his company, and the threat of cyberterrorism at the Aspen Ideas Festival in Aspen, Colorado. Fanning said while the Southeastern economy has held up better than the rest of the nation, he's seen a very interesting trend lately in that the mix of growth is different. Fanning said in the past two years, Southern saw growth in industrial demand, but flattish growth for residential and commercial consumption. In the first quarter industrial growth slowed, which Fanning believes is related to fluctuations in currency and exports, as well as low oil prices. TheStreet's Rhonda Schaffler has details from Aspen, Colorado.
